Today we lost our sweet bird - Speck. K saved her money- birthday, Christmas, etc... - and bought this bird when we moved to Utah. For an 8 yr old girl, $150.00 is a lot of money - but she really wanted a Cockatil. She raised him from a hatchling. He was 4 years old. Speck liked to whistle Beethoven's 5th, Jingle Bells, and tunes he made up. He liked to squawk a lot too! He loved jewelry, walks across the top of the couch, and sitting on his perch. We lost Speck tragically - he was attacked by a cat. Speck liked to be outside and we would put him out once in a while (in his cage of course). Today was one of those days - he wasn't out long when M said "OH NO... Speck's cage fell over" - so K went to see and then we heard the screaming. It's a sad day in our home. Lots of tears. Funeral services will be held this evening.
Bye Speck... we love you so much... can't wait to see you flying around in Heaven one day.

Looks like cat season just opened. If any of you have outdoor cats you may want to keep em inside for a while.
OH, so sorry to hear that. I know how much K loved that bird (as did the rest of the family). Give her a big hug for me. It's hard to loose a pet.
Poor Speck. That is so tragic. I know K is heartbroken. Tell her Grandpa and I love her.

That really is horrible. We had a Cockatil for awhile and we loved all he did. We had to give him away because Louie and Doug hated him. Make sure K gets lots of hugs... this must be so hard on her.
