"I'm the winner"

In an effort to draw attention to RSL (Real Salt Lake) soccer this week (since the home opener is this Saturday), the RSL staff decided to do a scavenger hunt around the valley. They did this last year and Tim won a ball signed by all of the players. So, this year we monitored the clues and progress of the RSL crew once again. At 2 pm Tim and I guessed that the 3pm stop would be in Bountiful - so we hopped in the car with the kids and went to where we thought they'd be. However, at 3pm the RSL crew went to Rice Eccles Stadium instead - not even close to Bountiful! So, we sat in the car and waited.... trying to think ahead of what they'd be doing. Then the next clue "Bountiful, you're next" - so we anxiously awaited the clue to the location!
We were sitting in our car at Scoreboard sports. We picked this spot because often times an RSL player will show up here to sign autographs and such.... and they sell RSL gear. Then the clue came... "500 South and 500 West" - DANG... we were about 5 minutes away from there and we knew right where they were - KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN - since they are sponsors of RSL too. So we took off and I promise we caught every red light on the way! We got right to the corner of 500 S and 500 W and we could see LEO the Lion standing there with the giant RSL flag and you could tell there was no winner yet, but I had a feeling - while sitting at yet another RED LIGHT - that we wouldn't make it on time. So we told K to jump out and run to the crosswalk. She did and was screaming "LEO, LEO" the whole time.... but he couldn't hear her over the traffic. Then - before she got a walk sign - K took off across the street and ran up to LEO! The next thing we see is Leo with his hands in the air jumping up and down, and K doing the same thing!! SHE WON... she was the first there! Then the light turned green and we made our way to the parking lot - the car in front of us turned into the lot too.... see, it's a good thing that K got out and ran!!
So K was the winner and she got an RSL scarf and an RSL beenie - and then her pic taken with LEO and put on the RSL website! She was so excited... now she has something cool to wear to the games!! YAY K... so glad you won... and had fun doing it! May that memory last with you FOREVER!
