So - throughout this week I'll take the time to post about our vacation and what we did and what we learned and such. It really was great - we all had fun!
SATURDAY - October 12, 2013
We decided to not check any luggage on our flights. So - for the 6 of us, we had 6 carry on bags and 6 personal items (i.e. backpacks). Thank goodness that everyone is capable of handling their own belongings or else Tim's arms might have fallen off! We booked our flights a little differently from most. We booked Denver to New Orleans first - thinking that we might drive to Denver to save a little money. Then a few days later the flights from Salt Lake to Denver dropped significantly and the desire to drive also dropped significantly...so we booked a separate flight from SLC to DEN - saving a little money and not having to spend 8 hours in a car is totally worth it! The plane from DEN to NOLA was one of the new Dreamliners (787) and Tim was in love! Once we were on board, the kids were in love as well...it was an awesome plane!
One of the features on this fancy tin can is that each passenger has his own TV - complete with games, cartoons, movies, etc... No charge for this awesome feature either! So, as soon as we got to our seats and settled in, the kids began selecting things for their viewing pleasure. It was a good thing that the TVs were an option too - our flight ended up leaving 45 minutes late...not good since we had a connection in Houston!
In case you're wondering, I spent the 2+ hours watching "The Great Gatsby"!
So, we land in Houston at 6:15 and our next flight leaves at 7pm. Not a big deal - but in true Texas fashion, IAH is a GIANT airport and the gate we landed at was not even close the gate we needed to depart from. Fortunately Tim was able to get a cart and we all piled on. As we were speeding through the airport, L made siren sounds (bi-do-bi-do-bi-do) to warn people to watch out (we got lots of smiles at that one). Just as the cart arrived at the gate they were making the boarding call for our section - WHEW!
Unfortunately, because of the delay in DEN, we were unable to grab dinner in IAH so everyone was tired AND hungry!
Here is M...she is so happy to be in NOLA finally! We left SLC at 11am and arrived in NOLA at 8:30pm - it was a long day!! My brother, Cameron (AKA "Uncle Pickle"), picked us up at the airport and took us to McDonald's to grab some dinner! We couldn't decide what to have so Uncle P made it easy - he ordered like this:
"I'll have 40 chicken nuggets, 5 McDoubles, 2 #5's (double quarter pounder with cheese), and 4 Med. Sprites"
The lady was like "uh - ok" - and that was that....
We took the food to the hotel and everyone started to chow down! Can you believe that between the 6 of us, only 1 hamburger and 1 order of fries was left? We were seriously starving!
Thanks Uncle Pickle for picking us up...getting us dinner...and making us laugh - all week long!! (oh and in case you're wondering - his shirt says "C.S.I. - can't stand idiots")

You think IAH is huge? Maybe because I have always flown through IAH, but I think DEN and DFW are much bigger! lol :) I'm loving all the pics!
