Crazy 5 days!!

As you know, we've been out of town! What started off as a 3 day trip to Zion's National Park turned into an amazing adventure! First we bought this little annual pass - $80.00! (gets you into all the National Parks for 1 year!)
We first used our pass at Zion's! What a beautiful place!! Unfortunately we didn't get to hike everything we wanted to thanks to a nice thunder storm and possible flash floods - maybe next time! ($25.00 entrance fee - but we have a pass!!!)
Then we were off to the Grand Canyon. It was only 2 hrs away, after all, so why not? This was hard for me. Some of you know why. My poor kids - I hope they remember the beauty and not me! (Another $25.00 entrance fee - but not with our pass! - I love this thing!!)
After we left the Grand Canyon we stopped at Cliff Dwellers. WOW! I've seen stuff like this before but the kids haven't! They couldn't believe that people would actually live in the rocks! (No fee here!)
Then off through the Navajo Nation we went. This was fun because we knew that there would be people selling jewelry. Mykenzi wanted everything!! (she settled for a necklace that "keeps away bad dreams")
YES - this is lake Powell! We made a stop here too! They say that the water is high this year - can't imagine what it would be like if it were to full capacity, because there was a lot of water! (Sonic in this town was SLOW!!)
By Sunday morning we were heading to Cedar Breaks National Monument. The visitors center is at 10,000 ft. elevation! It was beautiful. They sky was so blue and clear! So peaceful. Here the kids became junior rangers! (Another fee - WHAT? Ah, that's right, we have a pass!!!)

After leaving Cedar Breaks, we made a quick stop at Red Cliffs! Wow were they red!! These cliffs were beautiful, I"m happy that we didn't hike them, can't imagine what that would do to our clothes! (Cool - a free stop - DARN, I wanted to swipe my pass!!)

Finally we made it to Bryce Canyon! This again, is another beautiful park! We didn't do much hiking but we made lots of stops at the various turnouts and enjoyed the beauty of this amazing place. Did you know that the Paiute Indian legend says that the people that lived here were bad, so they were turned to rocks. Interesting! (Yes - fee here, another $25.00 but alas, we love our pass!)

We finally made it back to Bountiful around 12am Monday morning. Our pass paid for itself in all of our adventures. I think the kids had a great time, they certainly have some great stories to tell - just ask em'!!

What a blast...and whattalotta miles!!! I think my kids would have made it to Fillmore and then staged a coup :) I am so happy the backpack worked for you. That was my one frivolous extravagent buy for myself when I had Aeden, and we haven't used nearly as much as I would have liked, so thank you thank you thank you for putting some miles on it for me :)
