Today I'm "uber" grateful for re-calls - especially those for my van! It's always a pain to get that little letter that says X part has been recalled and you need to take your van in to the local Ford dealer and have it replaced. This takes up so much time and often times the recall is for something small and silly that isn't affecting me.
However, a few weeks ago we received a letter saying that there was a recall on our cruise control switch. HHMMM...our cruise control recently went out - so maybe this little switch would fix the problem. Couldn't hurt to try. So today we took the van in. We plan to head out of town for Thanksgiving so Tim was hoping to get the cruise control fixed before we left (he hates driving without it!).
When we picked up the van we got some additional good news! My van has been slowly leaking brake fluid for some time. We haven't fixed the leak because we haven't been able to pay for it - so we just kept putting brake fluid in until we could take a closer look at the problem. Anyway - the recall on the cruise control was specifically due to it causing a leak in break fluid which could potentially lead to engine fires. So guess what - they had to fix the leak as well - NO CHARGE!!!
YAY!
I'm grateful for these tiny blessings and now I'll be paying closer attention to those recalls!
