Yeah yeah - I know - I haven't been here for a while, but no one really reads this anyway so what's the difference? School is really really underway now! N was the first to start, 5th grade, back in mid August! He is attending a new school this year (LPA) and he's doing great! He's chosen to play the cello too, so that's new to his repertoire! N was also placed in Pre-Algebra this year. He's rocking it and loves this new challenge! They did DIBLES testing last week and the benchmark for 5th grade was 315 - N scored 444. That totally works for me! The only thing N doesn't really like is the fact that he has to wear a uniform to school - but hey, it keeps him from thinking about what to wear, right?!
M was the next to start school, the last week of August. She continues to attend Spectrum and is now in the 6th grade. She is doing so great and has a ton of friends. New this year, for M, is 7 different classes with 6 different teachers. She has joined the Environmental club so that she can help plant trees and flowers around the school!
L Started school just 2 days after M. Kindergarten here we come. He loves it!! He is learning so much and really starting to read! He is ambidextrous too - when his left hand gets tired of writing, he just switches to his right hand - his teacher thinks it's pretty cool! L can name the 7 continents, tell you all about Christopher Columbus and is pretty sure that the Revolutionary War was started when "there was an evil King and George Washington wasn't havin' none of that!" heheee. DIBLES testing was last week and the benchmark score for Kindergarten was 26 - L scored an 87, so we really have no worries about him. We love the school he's in (LPA) and all that he's learning (and love the uniform too!).
K started a new program this year called Career Path High (CPH) - it's a duel High School/college program and this is the pilot year. So, part of her curriculum is done online and from home and the other part is done up at the DATC (Davis Applied Technology College). She didn't start school until after Labor Day but when they finally did get started it was full steam ahead! She is taking an AP Biology class - as a 10th grader - along with numerous other honors classes, so you can say she's just a tad busy! She continues to play her violin and I can't wait for N to get to a point with his cello where they can play a song together! :) K has mastered the public transportation system and takes the bus to school - this has been a huge help to me as it's limited the time I spend driving, slightly.
WHEW...so we are getting into a great routine now and everyone is doing great!! Now it's time for a vacation!
