Last week Tim had a rather intensive trial that he was on and that led to a lot of time with a few other attorneys. While waiting on the verdict to come back at the end of the week - Tim and another attorney started talking about how they ended up in UT. Tim started telling him the story about K and how she is a student that needs "special education". They discussed how you have "special ed" for students who are below the norm and then you have "special ed" for the students who are considered gifted. The extremes - yes - but both still require special ed in order to tap into the levels that they function on. Tim explained that we found a school in UT that focused on the Gifted and Talented and how K qualified and then we found our self in a whirlwind of events and moving! The other attorney tells Tim - yeah, I know what you're talking about. My daughter calls those kids "G-tards" - her "gifted and talented friends".
So there is Tim - laughing uncontrollably about "G-tards" as he's relaying the story to me. I sat there just wondering exactly what to think about this new term (new to me anyway). Part of me thinks that's sort of making fun of these kids and then part of me thinks it's a pretty clever term that was probably thought up by a "G-tard"! Regardless - I thought it was funny - now do I share this with K or let her discover it on her own?! HHMMMM....
