FRIDAY: (4-17-09) K turns 11!! Like a loving parent, I scheduled follow up dental appointments for all of the kids! M didn't handle it so well. She took the shot just fine but then started to freak out (literally) and let's just say that now I have to find a pediatric specialist that can put her under! Tim got 10 tickets to a play-off Hockey game. We invited some couples that we love and took K along too. She loves Hockey - and after all, it was her b-day! We got these blue bang sticks and found all sorts of uses for them! The game was good - even if the local favorite lost, and K got to hug "Grizz"! We also ate at the Cracker Barrel for dinner and discovered that they have BLUE BELL ice-cream on their menu! YUM!
SATURDAY: N finally had a soccer game- the rest had been cancelled due to weather. He did better than he had last season, but after he scored his first goal his confidence shot up and off he went - dominating the ball most of the game! He ended up with 2 goals! On Sat. night we decided to move L to his "big boy bed" - SWEET for me!
SUNDAY: Finally a family celebration of this sweet thing!
TUESDAY: T-ball season is underway! Tonight is the first game. Did we mention that N's best friend - Nick - is also on his team? SO COOL. They were back to back in the batting lineup and they thought that was the cherry on their sundae! I made hot dogs for a pic-nic dinner (nothing like a hot dog and a ball game!) and we had a blast watching N play. He got a hold of the ball a time or two - look at that SWEET hit!
WEDNESDAY: N had a follow up dental apt. to the one on Friday because they couldn't finish a filling that he needed. He also had a loose tooth - he asked the dentist to pull it - so Dr. Olsen did! N didn't even flinch - what a great patient! Afterwards we got dressed and headed to another soccer game. With his confidence boosted from Saturday's game, this kid became PELE! He started dribbling the ball and running circles around the other kids. Another 2 goals under his belt and a great smile to boot! As a side note - K and I came down with something that has made us sick - so K missed her first day of school this year - she wasn't happy about that.
THURSDAY: M had a soccer game tonight but she opted to sit and cry instead. The game didn't happen - apparently the team wasn't informed about a field change, so they practiced instead, but M would have nothing to do with it. Soccer isn't her thing for sure - but it was a good try! After M left her team on the field in a fit of tears, we headed across town to where K's team would be playing. The whole drive she "cried" (minus the tears) about how she'd never get a goal because it's so hard. We kept telling her that as long as she wasn't aggressive and telling herself that she can't then she wouldn't. So we encouraged her to attack. We've never seen her run so hard - EVER! She had a collision with the goalie - TWICE - in attempts to score - FOILED! Then she was surrounded by 3 girls when she passed the ball to a teammate - who did score - ASSIST! Finally at the end of the game, a teammate took a shot - it bounced off the goalie and back out into the field of play and K was right there - she shoots - she SCORES!!! Mom and Dad go wild!! They are on their feet folks! Big smiles from the players - a high five to her teammate - a smile for the camera! She beamed the whole way home! It's a big deal for K - she's not that aggressive and at this level they have ref's and goalies! WAY TO GO - you made my Thursday night beautiful! L really wanted to play too, so during half time he got a hold of the team ball and kicked it around...hhmmm...player in training - maybe?
