Towards the end of last year we decided that our kids were old enough to start calendaring the events of the week. (this really was a decision out of necessity due to the multitude of activities that we had going on). So, we made sure that each child had a calendar and on Sunday evenings we would hold a family council, discuss the highs and lows of our family, and then calendar the items. This routine faded fast when the summer came about. I'm not sure why - maybe we just didn't think it was necessary anymore, but now that the first week of school is over we have discovered that we need this time more now than we did even 3 months ago! So, tonight, armed with our calendars and thoughts from the past week - we jumped back into the swing of things and calendared the variety of activities that each of us has this week. We set a family goal for the week, we talked about things that made us happy and things that made us sad and how to improve upon our week. It was fun to watch M and N try to write things on the various days of the week or to hear them say "nothing scheduled for that day, Mom!" - hehehe - like they have major time constraints! Hopefully our calendars will help keep us on track and the weekly discussions will continue to draw us closer as a family - only time will tell! :)

Well, if we had our weeks full we'd be doing the same thing. It's funny how kids think they need to have something to do everyday. Hang in there. Love you.
