pictures for you...

As promised... pictures from K's b-day! There are a lot of em' - so I had to be a tad picky. Remember that you can click on the picture to enlarge it too!
We'll start with her party. We did it on Friday night - and she handed out 22 invites.... 16 people came, and including her there were 17 participants! She did an "Amazing Race" of sorts - using digital cameras and a mall as the setting. I think that the kids all had a good time! Here are some pictures of her with her friends. The young man making the goofy face- standing with K is her first crush... how cute huh?!
Saturday morning - some of the girls spent the night. We told K that she couldn't have a sleep over until she was 12 so that's what she wanted to do! We had pancakes for breakfast and then sent all the girls home so that K could spend her day at the temple!! She chose the Oquirrh Mountain Temple ... it was a beautiful day. Grandma Sandy and Grandpa D even got to come since they were in SLC - before heading down to Baton Rouge for a visit!
After we got back from the temple, K went to her room to change clothes and SURPRISE... the YW beehive class had decorated her room with balloons, streamers, candy and brownies to say Happy Birthday and welcome her to YW!! I had known about this for about a week - so it worked out nicely that K was already out of the house!
After the surprise room decoration we piled in the car to head towards Famous Dave's BBQ - because K wanted Ribs for her b-day dinner! Before we got there, we made a quick stop for a surprise gift. We made it to dinner with 20 guests (mostly family) and enjoyed some delicious BBQ! While there, there was a phone that started to ring. K didn't hear it the first time - or the second - or third - or even fourth. Then Grandma Sandy helped her to find the phone under the table. She answered it - and I said "HI, is this YOUR phone?" and she said "Um - I guess, who is this?" - "Uh, you're mother! Happy Birthday - enjoy your phone." She tried to hide the tears, but I saw em' and soon they disappeared and the excitement and joy took over. Of course rules are in place, and her price tag has been laid out for her. But it was time, at least for this child, to catch up with the times so that we can catch up with her!
It was a fun day - and one we won't soon forget. She's growing up and we are so proud of her! Thanks K for being who you are... and for making us smile!

AAAH! The phone. Still haven't given in to my almost 14 year old despite the begging. Maybe when he's driving. Surprises are so fun. That was a creative way to give her her gift. Looks like she's had a lot of fun.
